The Asian cricketing body is likely to take a decision within 48 hours

Heavy to moderate showers are expected in Colombo in September — AFP

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has convened an important meeting to address the ongoing bad weather and rain conditions in Sri Lanka, the Indian Express reported on Sunday.

The cricketing body is likely to take a decision in the next 24 to 48 hours to shift Asia Cup 2023 matches from Colombo due to rain and bad weather.

The matches are likely to be shifted to Dambulla or Pallekele, the report says.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have not yet released any statement on this news.

According to BBC Weather forecast, thundery showers are expected in Colombo for the next 15 days and the Asia Cup Super Four matches including the event's final are scheduled to be held there.

Looking at the weather forecast and the possibility of rain disturbing the matches, the ACC will now assess their options.

It must be noted that the ACC is already under heavy criticism for organising the matches in Sri Lanka knowing that it is always raining there during this time of year.

Earlier on Saturday, the most anticipated match of the Asian event between India and Pakistan was interrupted by rain and the Green Shirts didn't get a chance to bat as persistent rain thwarted their chances of chasing down India's target of 267 runs in Kandy.
